Patient's question:
On November 20th, I went to the hospital and was prescribed Suping and Huangpu wash liquid. My period was supposed to come on the 24th, but now it's December 9th and I still haven't gotten it. I've already finished all the medicine and wash liquid. Could this medicine delay my period? Also, I had an IUD inserted last year, so I shouldn't be pregnant, right. I'm so worried why my period hasn't come yet! The doctor said I need to go for a follow-up after my period ends in three to seven days. I'm really desperate!Doctor's answer:
Hello: Your situation is not about pregnancy, but rather symptoms of menstrual irregularity caused by medication use.Chronic cervical is one of the most common diseases among women. It often develops from acute cervical and is more prevalent in married women who are physically frail. The cause is typically bacterial invasion of the cervix due to damage during sexual intercourse or childbirth.
The main symptom is an increase in vaginal discharge, which is usually viscous or purulent, sometimes mixed with blood or causing post-coital bleeding. Other symptoms include vulvar itching, lower abdominal or lumbosacral pain, which worsen during sexual intercourse, menstruation, and defecation.
Treatment primarily focuses on local methods, such as cervical electrocoagulation, laser therapy, cryotherapy, or the use of corrosive agents (e.g., chromic acid, potassium permanganate).
Prescription:
1. 2–3 days after treatment, the vagina may discharge a large amount of bloody or yellowish fluid, requiring the use of menstrual pads. This typically stops within about 3 weeks.
2. If excessive vaginal discharge causes discomfort in the vulvar area, warm water or a 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution can be used for vulvar cleaning, twice daily.
3. Wear 100% cotton underwear and change it frequently to maintain vulvar hygiene.
4. Abstain from sexual intercourse for 1–2 months.
5. Avoid swimming in swimming pools.
