Features: Currently, documents such as the "Teaching Requirements for College English Courses" (Trial), the "Outline for the College English Test Band 4 and 6 Speaking Examination," and the "Outline for the College English Application Ability Test" provide guiding opinions on the cultivation and assessment of college English speaking skills, and the corresponding exams have been conducted for many years. The overall approach to reforming college English education has also restored speaking instruction to its rightful position. Forward-thinking institutions have already incorporated speaking instruction into their full-time teaching curricula. Based on these teaching guidance documents and the current reform trends, we have organized speaking teachers from several institutions to compile this "College English Speaking Course." This book represents a new exploration in implementing the "Basic Requirements" from the perspective of comprehensively improving students' English application abilities. The guiding principle behind the writing of this book is that college English speaking instruction should address the issue of localized English usage. Currently popular college English intensive reading textbooks already provide systematic and comprehensive introductions to the organization of British and American politics, economy, culture, as well as lifestyles and ways of thinking. The target users of this series are primarily non-English major students at junior colleges, first- and second-year undergraduate students at universities, and normal college students (normal students should possess localized English communication skills). It can also be used by interpreters, foreign affairs personnel, tourism professionals, and those engaged in external liaison work.
