In 1381, the Ming Dynasty dispatched troops to Yunnan and Guizhou (known as "Tiao Bei Zheng Nan"), followed by a large-scale migration southward (known as "Tiao Bei Tian Nan"). These soldiers and farmers settled in the mountainous interior of Guizhou and formed a relatively unique Han Chinese settlement in Anshun, an area known as "the throat of Yunnan and the belly of Guizhou" – Tunpu. Six hundred years have passed in the blink of an eye, and the Tunpu people, who call themselves "elderly Han people," still preserve ancient traditions: their architecture remains unchanged, their clothing remains unchanged, and their customs remain unchanged. They guard the remnants of history, making modern Tunpu a flowing landscape rich in authentic Han culture.
However, under the impact of the modern information wave and economic wave, even the strongest fortress will eventually crumble. The enclosed Tunpu, the impoverished and backward Tunpu, and the "noble land" of the Ming Dynasty – all are undergoing a series of changes unknown to many in the between ancient traditions and industrial civilization.
"The Ming Dynasty Remnant Tribe – A Journey Through Ancient Tunpu" is a large (prose piece) and (extended essay), with the core of news reporting, the stance of field reports, and the form of pure literature. The author shows great humanistic concern for the elderly Han people of Tunpu and Tunpu culture, while also incorporating a clear personal inclination and folk sentiment, guiding readers on a cultural journey of understanding the history and humanistic sentiments of Tunpu from the moment they read this book.
