I think I would be an excellent astronaut. To be a good astronaut, one must be very smart, and I am smart. Additionally, one must understand the function of machinery, and I am good at that. Moreover, one must be able to stay alone in a very small spacecraft, far from the Earth's surface for tens of thousands of miles, without panicking, without claustrophobia, without missing home, and without losing one's mind. I have always liked small spaces, as long as there are no other people around.
Christopher, fifteen, a math genius with autism. His idol is Sherlock Holmes, and his best subject is math. He likes prime numbers, logic, and facts, dislikes yellow and brown, and cannot tolerate being touched. The farthest place he has been alone is the small store near his home. He wants to go into outer space because it is a place where no one is within tens of thousands of miles. His lonely and safe world is suddenly changed by a murder: late at night, the dog next door is killed with a pitchfork. Christopher decides to be his own detective and write a book about the investigation. So this is a detective novel involving a murder case - but the detective, the murderer, the victim, the truth, and everything else are completely unexpected.
Nervous writing, heterogeneous writing, Christopher's honesty is unsettling. He intends to solve the murder case but accidentally discovers the truth hidden in his own home. Christopher is heartwarming, but his mind is like the outer space he most wants to go to - distant and hard to reach. Sometimes real life is like numbers - complex and not at all clear.
