Doctor's answer:

Vaginal itching is a symptom that can be caused by various factors. Local causes include specific infections (such as fungal vaginitis, trichomoniasis, pubic lice, scabies, pinworms), chronic vulvar dystrophy, drug allergies or chemical irritation, poor hygiene habits, and skin diseases. Patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, jaundice, leukemia, vitamin A deficiency, and vitamin B deficiency also frequently experience vaginal itching. In some cases, there are no obvious local or systemic causes, which may be related to psychological or mental factors. Vaginal itching is a symptom caused by multiple factors. Elderly women, due to decreased estrogen levels in their bodies, thinning of the vulvar epidermis, atrophy of the vaginal epithelium, insufficient vaginal secretions, dry or unclean vulvar conditions, and mechanical or alkaline irritation, often develop vaginal itching. Additionally, due to conditions affecting the ovaries, uterus, or vagina, increased vaginal discharge can irritate the vulvar skin, leading to itching.
