Will the use of metronidazole and chlorhexidine before pregnancy affect the fetus?

Patient's question:

Patient Gender: Hello expert, I have candidiasis of the vagina. Every time after sexual intercourse, I use a rinse to clean. This time, I accidentally discovered I was pregnant. Could it be affected?
First follow-up question: After discovering pregnancy, my leukorrhea is both excessive and yellow. Is it inflammation? My lower back pain is severe. Is it really necessary to have an abortion? Can candidiasis of the vagina be cured? I have been treating it for two years, but it hasn’t been fully cured yet. If it doesn’t itch, is it okay?

Doctor's answer:

Your situation suggests that it is advisable to undergo prenatal examinations. Prenatal examinations, if possible, should ideally be conducted once a month. If the circumstances do not permit, targeted examinations can be performed. Generally speaking, ultrasound has minimal impact on the baby and can be appropriately performed. At least four ultrasound examinations are typically required. At 12 weeks of pregnancy, intrauterine pregnancy is confirmed, and abnormal pregnancies are ruled out. Between 18-20 weeks of pregnancy, gestational age is verified, and fetal abnormalities are excluded. Between 32-36 weeks of pregnancy, fetal development is assessed, and fetal abnormalities are ruled out again. For those who are at or beyond their due date and have not delivered within two weeks, another ultrasound examination is recommended. This is primarily to assess placental maturity, amniotic fluid volume and quality, and indirectly evaluate placental function, thereby determining whether the pregnancy can continue and deciding on the mode of delivery. Additionally, other examinations may be necessary depending on the situation, such as the triple screen at 16-18 weeks of pregnancy.
