Generally refers to the condition of Mycoplasma infection. Mycoplasma are the smallest organisms capable of independent survival, existing between bacteria and viruses and lacking a cell wall. The Mycoplasma that infects the human body are primarily Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum, which are the most common. Mycoplasma hominis infection can cause vaginitis, cervicitis, and salpingitis, while Ureaplasma urealyticum can cause non-gonococcal urethritis. The main mode of transmission is sexual contact. Pregnant women infected with Mycoplasma are at risk of miscarriage, premature birth, or stillbirth. When Mycoplasma co-infects with other pathogens, the main manifestations are non-gonococcal urethritis and other genital tract inflammatory conditions. Diagnosis is based on: Mycoplasma culture, serological monitoring, and PCR monitoring.
