Due to their similar interests and backgrounds, they collaborated on linguistic research, collecting, and compiling folk tales and legends, hence the name "Brothers Grimm." They were born into a family of lawyers, studied together at Kassel, learned law together at Marburg, and later worked together at the Kassel Library. In 1830, they both became professors at G?ttingen University. In 1837, they were dismissed from their professorships along with five other professors for protesting the arbitrary violation of the constitution by the King of Hanover. In 1840, they became members of the Berlin Academy of Sciences and professors at the University of Berlin until their deaths. The Brothers Grimm jointly compiled Children and Household Tales, commonly known as Grimm's Fairy Tales, consisting of 216 stories. Today, as timeless masterpieces beloved by all, the Grimm fairy tales have been translated into many languages and published multiple times, becoming a treasure of world children's literature and cherished by children everywhere.
