Can IVF be done after an ovarian cyst surgery?

Patient's question:

Ovarian cyst, had surgery last year, checked a few days ago and it might be fallopian tube blockage. Want to do IVF, want to ask about the success rate, time, and approximate cost of IVF in this situation. Husband's sperm is 30.

Doctor's answer:

The success rate of in vitro fertilization (IVF) depends on many factors, including endocrine and laboratory conditions, the technical proficiency of the staff, and, of course, the patient's age, uterine and ovarian conditions, and the presence of other diseases, etc. These are all factors that influence the success rate. For example, the age of the female partner is the most significant factor. For women aged 25 to 35, the success rate of IVF is higher than the average of 30%–40%, with some reaching 50% or even higher. However, after the age of 35, the success rate gradually declines, dropping to around 20% by the age of 40. This is because, as women age, the quality and quantity of their eggs decline.
Additionally, the development of cryopreservation and embryo transfer technology has significantly increased the pregnancy rate during the egg retrieval cycle. Since multiple embryos are often transferred, the incidence of multiple pregnancies is also higher. Multiple pregnancies are more prone to complications, miscarriage, and premature birth. Therefore, the government has recently mandated that no more than two embryos can be transferred per cycle. Excess embryos can be cryopreserved for later use. If the first attempt is unsuccessful, another cycle can be performed.
Generally, the pregnancy rate with frozen embryos is 15%–20% lower than with fresh embryos. However, some studies suggest that transferring frozen embryos during a natural hormonal cycle in the female body may yield a higher pregnancy rate compared to fresh embryo transfer cycles. Through several cycles of frozen-thawed embryo transfer, the overall success rate of IVF is significantly improved.
The minimum cost is generally at least 30,000–50,000. Wishing you a speedy and blessed pregnancy!!!
