For this reason, we have compiled a series of books titled "Cultural Heritage Studies" to address the various issues arising in the process of cultural heritage protection from an academic perspective, while also attempting to propose theoretical reflections for the establishment of cultural heritage studies as a discipline in China. We hope that this series can provide theoretical assistance and practical support to colleagues involved in cultural and natural heritage protection projects. This book offers a comprehensive interpretation of the experiences of advanced countries in heritage protection, such as Italy, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, and South Korea, as well as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and other relevant international organizations, over the past century from multiple perspectives, including the history of cultural heritage protection, organizational construction, legal development, and successful practices. These experiences will help us understand the new concepts, principles, and practices that the international community upholds in protecting tangible, intangible, and natural heritage, guide China's cultural heritage protection efforts today, and enable us to avoid detours or minimize them, even achieving leapfrogging breakthroughs—all of which will be highly effective.
