What is ectopic pregnancy

Patient's question:

Hello, I would like to ask one more question. Yesterday, I accompanied my girlfriend to the hospital for a prenatal check-up. During the routine cervical discharge test, the results for trichomonas, candidiasis, G-bacteria, and BV were all negative. The ultrasound examination showed that the uterus was approximately 4.43.84.1 cm in size, in an anterior position, with normal uterine morphology, smooth capsule, uniform of the uterine wall, clear and central uterine cavity line, left ovary measuring 2.82.5 cm located behind the uterus, and right ovary measuring 2.72.1 cm. The uterus was of normal size and shape, with no gestational sac seen in the uterine cavity. No masses were observed in either adnexa. She hasn't had her period for 40 days. Could this be an ectopic pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, according to your ultrasound results, it indicates no obvious abnormalities in the uterus and bilateral adnexal regions. Currently, no gestational sac is visible in the uterine cavity. If you have missed your period, you can have your blood hCG levels tested to determine if you are pregnant.
If pregnancy is ruled out, it would be considered menstrual disorders. It is recommended to take Chinese medicine for symptomatic regulation. The small amount of free pelvic fluid can be ignored for now.
