Is fetal movement mostly early before birth?

Patient's question:

[Condition Description: I am only 7 days away from my due date, but the baby's movements have been very strong these last two days. Sometimes at night, the baby moves for about an hour straight. I don't have any signs of labor yet. Medical history and treatment effectiveness: Every time I go to the hospital for prenatal check-ups, the doctors say I might go into labor prematurely. What kind of help do you need: Is it still early for the baby to be born in this situation? Could it be that the baby won't be born even after the due date?

Doctor's answer:

It is very normal to have frequent fetal movements before labor, as it is a sign of labor. Generally, fetal movements tend to increase before labor. This is because, as the fetus develops and matures before labor, the space available for movement inside the uterus decreases, leading to more frequent movements. Another possibility is that if the fetus is experiencing oxygen deprivation, its movements may also increase. Therefore, it is best to first go to the hospital to monitor the fetal heart rate to check for oxygen deprivation. If there is no issue, then there is nothing to worry about.
Fetal movements before labor may also decrease. This is because, in the later stages of pregnancy, the fetus's size has grown significantly, reducing the available space for movement. As a result, the (fetal somersault movements) may also decrease.
