Features: The civilization of Bashu has a long and profound history, rich and fascinating. The rise and fall of ancient towns are one of its most typical, vivid, and reflections. The ancient towns of Sichuan are no longer just a culture; they have become a symbol, a symbol of Bashu civilization, and an important part of Chinese civilization. To let Bashu culture flow into the hearts of the people and to bring the civilization of ancient towns into every household, the author was commissioned by the editorial committee of the "Bashu Culture Enters Every Household Series" to delve into the history of ancient towns, seek traces left by the years, feel the vicissitudes the ancient towns have undergone, and savor the glory and sorrow of life's flow, and thus wrote this small book. There are many famous ancient towns in Sichuan, and choosing which ones to write about is a thoughtful task. First, the selected ancient towns should have a certain level of fame, generally national or provincial historical and cultural heritage towns, but those with too high a reputation and already extensively introduced are not considered. Except for Kangding, all nine towns selected in this book are provincial-level or above historical and cultural heritage towns. Although Kangding is not yet a historical and cultural heritage town, it is indeed a town worth exploring, so the author not only chose it but also introduced it as one of the nine towns in the book. The author conducted field research on ancient towns such as Shangli in Ya'an, Xiaquan in Deyang, Songpan in Aba, Zhaohua in Guangyuan, and Huijiang in Liangshan Prefecture. Many of the stories in the book come from the mouths of the residents of the ancient towns or from materials provided by the town governments. Their support made the vicissitudes of the ancient towns more vivid, authentic, and lively, and also saved the author time and effort in writing. During the writing process, the author also referred to numerous books, articles, and websites on the subject.
