What should be done about atypical squamous cells?

Patient's question:

A few years ago, I had cervical inflammation with a foul odor and sometimes some blood. I visited a county hospital for this. Now, the gynecology check-up says it's 'atypical squamous epithelial cells.'

Doctor's answer:

Your condition may be cervical erosion. When the shedding of the epithelial cells at the external os of the cervix is replaced by another type of epithelial tissue, due to the thinness of the newly formed epithelial covering, it can even be delicate. The underlying blood vessels and red tissue can be seen, appearing as if there is a large amount of erosion, hence the term "cervical erosion." The treatment of cervical erosion is relatively complicated, and it is prone to canceration. It is recommended to undergo microwave therapy, which can be somewhat effective.
