[Preface] General Preface: The Tourism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences is an academic institution dedicated to tourism research, established in 1999. Its mission is to adapt to the rapid development of China's tourism industry, strengthen academic research, and promote connections and exchanges with tourism academia, government bodies, and the industry both domestically and internationally, thereby fostering the healthy development of China's tourism sector. Since its inception, the Tourism Research Center has adhered to the principle of linking theory with practice and has followed the policy of serving the government, enterprises, and society. The publication of the "Academic Research Series of the Tourism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences" is one of the concrete measures to achieve these objectives and fulfill this policy.
The vigorous development of China's tourism industry has provided a rich foundation for tourism academic research, while the growth of tourism practice calls for innovation in tourism academic research. If, in the past two decades, we have placed greater emphasis on introducing and absorbing tourism research findings from abroad, then now, the task facing our academic community is to conduct in-depth research on China's own tourism development practices, build and develop a theoretical system for Chinese tourism academic research on the basis of existing achievements, and, as a major tourism country in the world, allow our research findings to provide references for the development of the global tourism industry and enrich the treasure trove of international tourism academic research.
The Tourism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences is not only a professional tourism research institution but also a platform for exchange and cooperation. Through this platform, our research activities, our annual "Green Book on Tourism," and this current series of tourism academic research, we aim to closely connect domestic and international tourism academia, jointly contributing to the healthy development of China's tourism industry and even the world's tourism sector.
