Features: In the mid-1950s of this century, the Soviet linguistic field began to pay attention to the study of language functions. A new discipline—functional rhetoric emerged and gradually developed into the dominant direction in Russian rhetoric research. Starting in the late 1970s, a series of monographs and textbooks on Russian functional rhetoric were published one after another, and Russian functional rhetoric, as a systematically complete linguistic discipline, firmly established its position. In the late 1970s, the Russian studies community in China began to focus on the research of functional rhetoric. Over the past decade, scholars in Chinese Russian studies have not only introduced and presented the research achievements of Russian scholars but have also conducted in-depth exploration of many theoretical issues within the existing framework of Russian functional rhetoric. They have proposed numerous innovative opinions on a series of important issues in functional stylistics and produced some independent research results of considerable academic value. All of this marks the maturation of the Russian studies community in China in its research on functional rhetoric.
