The drama revolves around a man named Ding Wu, who is a conscientious civil servant and a caring husband. Due to a "bet" with a friend, he unexpectedly discovers that his pure wife is sitting with a stranger. Sorrow strikes him like a bullet, and he swears revenge. This is an extremely complex emotional story, but the most captivating is the faint tragic hue above all the mystery and love-hate conflicts. The man driven by the desire for revenge, Ding Wu, is Chen Jianbin’s new role. This is his third time involving himself in a "marriage crisis" drama after Ten Years of Marriage and Crossing Passion. This time, the desire for revenge pushes him to commit illegal acts.
Ding Wu and his friend Liguo go to Shanghai for business. Liguo, who always treats women like dung, boasts endlessly about how easily he lures them and then discards them. Ding Wu, however, believes his beloved wife Pang Na would never do such a thing. Liguo insists that no woman is an exception. To prove his point, Ding Wu returns to Beijing before even leaving Shanghai’s airport and makes a bet with Liguo: pure women do exist, and that’s Pang Na. Upon returning home, Ding Wu witnesses Pang Na entangled with a man named Xia Li, and sorrow strikes his heart like a bullet. Heartbroken, he makes another bet with Liguo and swears: "I won’t be human until I kill Xia Li."
Ding Wu investigates and discovers that Xia Li is Pang Na’s company boss, while Xia Li’s wife, Chu Jie, is the head of an advertising company. Ding Wu plans to harm Chu Jie to get revenge on Xia Li, so he applies for a job at Chu Jie’s company and gradually gains her favor. Liguo suggests hiring someone to kill Xia Li, and Ding Wu agrees. Xia Li, surrounded by killers, narrowly escapes and calls the police. Liguo is arrested, and upon hearing the news, Ding Wu immediately surrenders. To save Ding Wu, Pang Na has another affair with Xia Li. Xia Li promises to drop the charges against Ding Wu, but he reneges on his word in court and sets Ding Wu up. Ding Wu and Liguo are sentenced to prison for intentional injury.
At this point, Pang Na discovers she is pregnant with Xia Li’s child, and Chu Jie cannot tolerate it and divorces Xia Li. Pang Na, for the sake of the child, painfully divorces Ding Wu and marries Xia Li. Several years later, Ding Wu and Liguo are released from prison. Liguo discovers Ding Wu’s computer diary, which contains a plan to kill Xia Li. Soon after, in a car accident, Ding Wu’s car hits Xia Li, killing him. The police suspect a premeditated murder and launch a thorough investigation, uncovering a shocking secret hidden within.
