Features: As one of the most important human settlements and the fundamental carrier of human civilization, urban development holds immense significance in modern societal progress. Urban planning has a long history, but traditional urban planning excessively emphasized human concern for their living spaces while neglecting the coordinated and sustainable development of urban ecosystems, urban supporting systems, urban ecosystems and the biosphere, as well as the internal sub-systems of urban ecosystems, leading to numerous "urban problems." Since the 1960s, people have gradually realized that the conquest and transformation of nature by humans since the Industrial Revolution have brought unforeseen consequences, sparking the "ecological boom" of the 1970s. This also made people recognize that many of the global environmental issues humanity faces today are the bitter fruits of blind urbanization and industrialization, giving rise to some basic ideas for urban ecological planning. In the 1990s, sustainable development gradually became a globally focused hot topic, forming the basic concept of sustainable development strategy. Under the guidance of this concept, urban ecological planning developed rapidly, laying a solid theoretical foundation and information resources for the establishment of this discipline. As an important component and primary approach of sustainable development, many scholars and experts are engaged in theoretical exploration and practical activities of urban ecological planning, with numerous professional literature in this field published annually, thus preliminarily shaping the framework of this discipline. In response to the current state of urban ecological planning and the practical needs of social development, the author compiled this book. Based on summarizing the latest achievements of urban ecological planning and urban development at home and abroad, the author strives to refine the knowledge structure, theoretical framework, and technical system of this field, aiming to provide a theoretical basis and methodological foundation for urban ecological planning and urban development research.
