Proceedings of the Lecture and Paper

Author: Martin Heidegger/Nationality: Mainland China
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-10-01
Features: This collection by Heidegger includes eleven essays. Except for one written between 1936 and 1946, the rest are works from the early 1950s (1950-1954). The essays are not simply arranged in chronological order but are divided into three groups. , and Group II each contain four essays, while Group III has three. Since the essays are divided into three groups, there is naturally a "theme" to consider. The theme of Group I can be summarized as reflections on the essence of technology and the question of the "end of metaphysics" in the sense of another "turn" in the "history of being." The theme of Group II can be summarized as contemplations on the "focusing" operation of existence and the corresponding originary "thinking." The theme of Group III is early Greek thought, which explores Heidegger's examination of the "first beginning" (pre-Socratic thought) in the history of being. From this, it can be seen that although the book is titled modestly as "Lectures and Essays," the author's arrangement of the essays is not arbitrary but carefully considered.
