Features: Education is a unique social phenomenon of humanity. As an ancient civilization with a long history, the Chinese people have not only attached great importance to education early on but also developed a wide range of folk sayings, poems, family precepts, and other classic texts for moral education, such as The Enriching Classic of Wisdom, Three-Character Classic, A Thousand Character Classic, Essentials for the Young, and Zhu Zi's Family Precepts. A common feature of these moral education texts is their emphasis on ethical and moral education, providing people with highly enlightening life philosophies from various aspects such as self-cultivation, social conduct, speech and behavior, making friends, handling success and failure, and managing household finances. Many of the sayings and maxims are widely quoted and admired. This book presents the original text, annotations, and colloquial translations to serve as a guide for readers in learning, thereby deepening their understanding of the profound Chinese traditional culture. The book has been carefully selected and annotated, with detailed explanations and translations, hoping to reveal the mysteries hidden within the "three-character" text for the readers. A Thousand Character Classic was written by Zhou Xingsi during the Southern Dynasties period. Its creation is shrouded in legend. It is said that Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty ordered someone to pick out one thousand different characters from Wang Xizhi's calligraphy, which were then jumbled and disordered. The emperor then summoned Zhou Xingsi and said, "You are quick-witted; please compile these one thousand characters into rhyming verse." Zhou Xingsi painstakingly worked on it overnight and composed a four-character rhyming text, with only the character "clean" repeated once, while the rest had no repetitions. The text was well-structured, with parallelism, clarity, and brilliant literary style, earning widespread admiration. Although this legend is somewhat miraculous, it reveals the prevalence of four-six parallel prose during the Southern Dynasties and the frequent success of such works.
