Features: The translated names in this manual are applicable to all English-speaking countries and ethnic groups. In today's English-speaking countries, the ethnic composition is complex, especially in the United States, where a large number of individuals from non-English backgrounds have been naturalized as local citizens. However, the spelling and pronunciation of their original surnames vary: some have been anglicized, while others still retain their original ethnic characteristics. Regarding the Chinese translations of these names, this manual refers to the phonetic information provided in English and American name dictionaries and pronunciation dictionaries as much as possible. For foreign names without phonetic records, those with obvious ethnic characteristics are translated according to the original ethnic pronunciation, while others are handled according to English pronunciation conventions.
