Features: From 1895 to 1945, Taiwan was under Japanese colonial rule for 50 years. The Japanese colonial authorities established a governorship autocratic regime in Taiwan, built a strict police network, revived the feudal baojia system, controlled Taiwan's economic lifelines, suppressed Chinese culture, and introduced Japanese culture. They attempted to assimilate the Taiwanese people into a distorted form of Japanese. The Taiwanese people suffered from national discrimination, had no political rights, were heavily exploited economically, and were treated as second-class citizens. To resist Japanese colonial rule, the Taiwanese people waged an indomitable struggle until Taiwan was liberated and returned to the embrace of the motherland.
