Currently, books on the history of Western vocal art are relatively scarce worldwide. The author has dedicated the materials and preliminary research results accumulated from years of teaching vocal art and the history of Western vocal art in music conservatories to the readers, as a starting point for further exploration.
The "Vocal Art Education Library" is part of the "Vocal Art Education Series." The publication of the "Library" aims to comprehensively improve musical standards and meet the needs of vocal art education, composition, performance, and appreciation. For a long time, our vocal theory development has lagged far behind the requirements of vocal art progress, lacking high-level theoretical achievements. The broad field of vocal culture—creation, performance, dissemination, publishing, appreciation, education, and research—has not been deeply summarized or generalized. The backward state of theory has not only hindered the development and guidance of practice but has also lost the academic responsibility and value that theory should possess.
The publication of the "Library," as a series of theoretical works on various disciplines of vocal art, will undoubtedly change this situation, leveraging its theoretical strength to promote the comprehensive development of vocal culture in the new century. Additionally, the publication of the "Library" is also necessary to promote national culture and explore the establishment of a theoretical system for Chinese vocal art.
