Patient's question:
I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. What should I do if uterine polyps are severe?Doctor's answer:
Treating polyps can be done with a minor surgery, which is usually performed on an outpatient basis and does not require hospitalization. For small polyps, they can be removed using forceps, followed by slight compression to stop bleeding, or by placing a piece of gauze at the neck, which is removed after 24 hours. When the polyps are larger, the stalk should be removed along with the polyp, and the base can be cauterized to stop bleeding. If there are multiple polyps, the cervical canal can be dilated, and the polyps should be thoroughly scraped, along with a diagnostic (D&C). All specimens should be sent for pathological examination to determine if further treatment is needed. Postoperatively, antibiotics can be used to prevent infection, and bleeding should be monitored.
