Features: The War at the Front is a collection of photographs and written reports by The London Illustrated News on the Chinese War of Resistance against Japan from October 1937 to January 1938. During this period, journalists from The London Illustrated News traveled to various locations in Northern China, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Nanjing, and other areas along the front lines, reporting and photographing the scenes of the war. From their unique Western perspective, they captured many previously unnoticed details of the war, such as Chinese officers in white uniforms descending from city walls after the Lugou Bridge Incident, street vendors selling "anti-gas masks" during air raids on Shanghai, and the joy of Eighth Route Army soldiers after capturing enemy anti-aircraft guns. Many of the photographs reflect historical facts of great archival value. This is a war scene recorded in blood. The book compiles all photographs taken by journalists from The London Illustrated News from 1937 to 1938, all captured on the front lines in Northern China, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Nanjing, and other areas during the war. This also reflects, from another perspective, the inspiring spirit of the Chinese nation's resistance and its unyielding national spirit.
