Author Teng Xuyan is not a professional writer but a science and technology professional who wrote his first book. This veteran of HAMC, admitted in 1963, engaged in microwave remote sensing technology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in his early years. He was sent as a visiting scholar to multiple countries, including the United States and Italy, and received numerous science and technology achievement awards before being transferred to Shenzhen to conduct high-tech research. To gather extensive materials, he traveled across the country almost at his own expense. At the age of 60, enduring illness and overcoming numerous difficulties, he interviewed over 400 veteran generals, elderly professors, and scholars, thoroughly searched local libraries, and collected a wealth of previously unknown historical records and stories. During the writing process, he remained highly responsible to history, insisting on using facts to speak and genuine emotions to move readers. After revising the manuscript four times, he finally completed this epic history of HAMC in five years.
