Features: The reason this book discusses the temple architecture culture before the Confucian era is to find a historical "root" for this architectural culture, which emerged after the birth of Confucianism and was deeply influenced by it. From this "root," we can observe its "stems," "flowers," and "fruits," that is, the historical development of later temple architecture culture. It is observed that when Confucianism rose and the ritual system flourished, the development of temple architecture culture also followed a synchronized trend. The temple architecture culture before the birth of primitive Confucianism can be seen as a cultural product nurtured by quasi-Confucianism in philosophy. Because even Confucianism itself has a historical process of emergence, incubation, formation, development, maturity, and eventual decline. If the "root" of temple architecture culture is deeply embedded in the cultural soil of the Shang-Zhou period or even earlier, then Confucianism, although founded by Confucius, was not created suddenly by a genius in the morning. Its "root" is also in the Shang-Zhou period or even in a more distant historical and cultural context. It is the historical accumulation and refinement of the cultural heritage of the Yan-Huang people.
