A wonderful recipe for treating a hundred diseases

Author: Hu Mingcan

Publishing Date: 1999-04-01
Features:
1. This book selects and compiles 213 single-herb prescription formulas published in domestic medical journals from 1980 to 1995. It covers all major medical specialties such as internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, proctology, dermatology, orthopedics, etc., focusing on common diseases and syndromes. The formulas are categorized by disease, named as "One Herb Miraculous Formulas for Treating a Hundred Illnesses," and are intended for clinical use by medical workers in various disciplines of traditional Chinese and Western medicine, students and teachers of TCM institutions, and as a reference.
2. Criteria for selecting formulas:
1) Use only one herb;
2) The herb is inexpensive and readily available, with clear and feasible usage instructions;
3) It must have more than 10 observed cases, proven efficacy, and reference cases for clinical use. All three criteria must be met for inclusion.
3. Format: Each prescription includes eight items: name, function, indications, usage, efficacy, cases, source, and remarks, to ensure accuracy, rigor, and practicality.
4. Most formula names are proposed by the compilers using the herb name, function, and dosage form.
5. The "function" section is primarily recorded from the original works. If the original work is missing, the compilers infer the formula's meaning and mechanism of action.
6. The "indications" section is copied directly from the original works, retaining both traditional Chinese and Western medical disease and syndrome names without alteration.
7. The "usage," "efficacy," and "cases" sections are as faithful as possible to the original works, with minor due to space constraints.
8. The "source" section lists the author's name, journal title, publication year, issue number, and page number for reference.
9. The "remarks" section primarily reflects the compilers' insights, analyzing the formula's meaning, pharmacology, and mechanism of action, or highlighting key points and precautions. Occasionally, it includes the original author's practical experiences or references to literature.
10. An "index of herb names" is appended at the end for easy reference.
