New Situation of Foreign Economic and Trade Cooperation

Features: In the past two years, the Shandong Provincial Society for Foreign Economic Studies has been guided by Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, and the Important Thought of "Three Represents." Adapting to the new realities of economic globalization and accelerated technological progress, as well as the new tasks of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, the society has earnestly implemented the basic policy of "opening to the outside world" and organized and mobilized its members to conduct in-depth research and exploration on the theoretical and practical issues of foreign economic cooperation in the new context. To ensure continuous innovation and breakthroughs in research, we have held multiple academic seminars on related topics. On September 24–26, 2004, we jointly hosted the national "China-Japan-South Korea Economic and Technological Cooperation Symposium in the New Context" with the China Society of Pacific Studies. Ninety-six representatives of the society and more than 40 renowned experts and scholars from across the country participated, with over 60 papers submitted for the conference. The representatives adhered to the principles of seeking truth from facts and promoting a climate of freedom of thought and expression, engaging in academic discussions and exchanges. The symposium was grand, enthusiastic, and yielded fruitful academic results. Based on the papers from this symposium, along with those from several other related academic discussions, we carefully selected and edited them to form the book Foreign Economic and Trade Cooperation in the New Context. The book is divided into three parts: Part 1: Research on China-Japan-South Korea Economic and Technological Cooperation; Part 2: Research on Regional Economic Cooperation; Part 3: Research on Hot Issues in Foreign Economic Cooperation. It covers most fields of theoretical and practical foreign economic cooperation in the new context. The publication of this book will play a positive role in promoting theoretical innovation and practical development in China's foreign economic cooperation.
