What methods are there to treat candidal vulvovaginitis?

Patient's question:

I have an itchy lower abdomen, and my underwear is always yellow. What's going on? What are the methods to treat candidiasis vaginitis?

Doctor's answer:

Hello.
1. Discontinue broad-spectrum antibiotics promptly. Change underwear frequently. Boil and wash used underwear, basins, and towels.
  2. Change the vaginal pH by rinsing the vagina with a 2%–4% sodium bicarbonate solution to create conditions unfavorable for the survival of Candida.
  3. After using an alkaline solution for disinfection, select the following medications:
① Clotrimazole (clotrimazole) suppositories or tablets: Insert 1 suppository or tablet into the vagina once nightly for 7 consecutive days.
② Miconazole nitrate (Daktarin) suppositories: Insert 1 suppository into the vagina once nightly for 7 consecutive days.
③ Nystatin suppositories or tablets: Insert 1 suppository or tablet (10 million U) into the vagina once nightly for 7–10 days.
④ Miconazole vaginal effervescent tablets: Insert 1 tablet into the vagina once nightly for 5 consecutive days.
