Features: On July 23, 2005, the National Education Examination Center announced the "Revision Notice of the 2006 National Master's Entrance Examination English Exam Syllabus." In the section on exam content and paper structure, it was stipulated that the exam questions are divided into three parts, with the second part being Reading Comprehension. The Reading Comprehension section is divided into three sub-sections, among which Section B has undergone some adjustments. Section B of Reading Comprehension includes the following alternative question types, one of which will be selected for assessment in each exam. The alternative question types are:
1. This section consists of an article with a total length of 500-600 words, containing 5 blanks, followed by 6-7 paragraphs of text. Candidates are required to choose 5 paragraphs from these 6-7 texts that can be placed in the 5 blanks in the article based on the content of the article.
2. In an article with a length of about 500-600 words, the original order of the paragraphs has been scrambled. Candidates are required to rearrange the listed paragraphs based on the content and structure of the article, with the positions of 2-3 paragraphs in the article already given.
3. An article with a length of about 500 words is preceded or followed by 6-7 paragraphs of text or 6-7 summary sentences or subheadings. These texts or titles respectively summarize, elaborate on, or provide examples of certain parts of the article. Candidates are required to choose the most appropriate 5 paragraphs or 5 titles from these 6-7 options to fill in the blanks in the article.
The key points of the above alternative question types are understanding the structure of the article and grasping textual features such as coherence and consistency. It should be said that these newly added question types in Reading Comprehension are relatively difficult, and candidates need to familiarize themselves with them quickly and improve their success rate in answering them. At the request of a large number of candidates, we have specially compiled this book, "Targeted Breakthrough." After analyzing and explaining the sample questions in the syllabus, this book summarizes the characteristics of the questions and the key testing points, proposing strategies. Based on self-assessment, it provides candidates with convenience in quickly familiarizing themselves with and mastering these question types. We believe this book will be helpful to candidates.
