Features: Proctology is a discipline with a long history but slow development. In recent years, it has garnered increasing attention, with a continuous emergence of new ideas and methods, presenting a scenario of diverse schools of thought. On one hand, this has promoted the development of academic research and clinical practice; on the other hand, it has left some beginners and grassroots clinicians feeling overwhelmed. Summarizing and innovating a set of practical and effective diagnostic and treatment methods for proctological diseases has been the long-term goal of the authors. With the enthusiastic encouragement of many senior figures and friends in the field of proctology, the authors have compiled their work experience and achievements over nearly two decades into this book to share with everyone, hoping it will be beneficial to their peers.
The book Proctology is divided into 36 chapters. In addition to comprehensively and systematically elaborating on the physiological anatomy of the anus and rectum, as well as the etiology, pathology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment, and recent advancements in proctological diseases both domestically and internationally, it places special emphasis on introducing the detailed comparisons of various proctological therapies conducted by the authors after years of dedicated research. It also presents the analysis, screening, and repeated experiments on dozens of traditional Chinese herbal medicines, resulting in the development of pure Chinese medicine preparations such as "An's Hemorrhoid Dissolving Liquid" and "An's Anal Pain Reliever," as well as the distinctive "An's Therapy." For example, Chapter 6 introduces the anorectal anesthesia method, Chapter 10 discusses the treatment of rectal multiple polyps with oral and topical Chinese medicine application, Chapter 11 presents improvements in hemorrhoid injection therapy and the development of new drugs, and Chapter 13 explores the treatment of rectal prolapse with proximal ligation and injection, among others.
Compared to the currently widely adopted surgical resection, laser, cryotherapy, and circumferential resection in international practice, An's Therapy and An's preparations offer advantages such as minimal patient discomfort, no need for fasting, unrestricted mobility, no age restrictions, short treatment duration, high efficacy, and no complications. Since 1989, systematic and detailed clinical data have shown that over 10,000 patients from China and abroad have been successfully treated, achieving remarkable results.
