Features: With the increasing scale of cities and the continuous improvement of modernization, the requirements for the power supply capacity and power quality of urban power grids have become increasingly stringent. Currently, due to the unbalanced development of China's power system, compared to the mature transmission and distribution systems and application technologies, the distribution network systems and application technologies have lagged behind. By the 1990s, due to insufficient investment in urban distribution networks and outdated technology levels, a contradiction emerged where there was surplus generation capacity but insufficient power supply capacity. Therefore, some cities began to carry out urban distribution network reforms while adopting a more effective technical approach—distribution network automation. After over a decade of exploration, research, and application, this technology has been effectively developed, and some systems have played a full role in the distribution production process, achieving practicality. The operation, maintenance, and user service levels of the entire distribution network have continuously improved.
Combining over a decade of experience in research, development, planning, and application, the author of this book, from an application perspective, attempts to answer and explore the issues related to distribution network automation in a question-and-answer format. The book is divided into seven chapters. Chapter 1 summarizes the current key issues that are of concern and influence decision-making regarding the construction of distribution network automation. Chapter 2 covers issues related to distribution network equipment and network structures. Chapter 3 addresses questions about the planning of distribution network automation systems. Chapter 4 introduces the composition of distribution network automation systems, master stations, terminal equipment, and related specific issues. Chapter 5 discusses the communication protocols, systems, and equipment of distribution network automation systems. Chapter 6 covers the main functions and technical indicators of distribution network automation systems. Chapter 7 focuses on practical implementation issues. In the appendix, documents and major standards related to domestic and international distribution network automation systems are listed separately.
During the writing process of this book, the author received guidance and support from Professor Liu Yongzhi of Sichuan University and Professor Wang Peizhang of Guangxi University. The book was reviewed and edited by Professor Sheng Shoulin of Xi'an Jiaotong University, who provided many valuable suggestions. The author sincerely expresses gratitude to Professor Liu Yongzhi, Professor Wang Peizhang, and Professor Sheng Shoulin for their assistance.
