Features: I don’t know if the Afghan door I opened can bring readers a different experience, but I gained a lot there—friendship, confidence in love, and insights into life. I want to share everything I experienced with everyone, regardless of whether they have gone through failure, pain, or confusion. As for the countless Afghans I have seen and not seen, I send them sincere love, strength, and hope. Wishing for a better tomorrow for Afghanistan!
Afghanistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia with an area of only 650,000 square kilometers. Before the 15th century, it was the center of trade and cultural exchange between Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East. In modern and contemporary times, Afghanistan became a battleground for imperial powers and world superpowers vying for dominance. Already isolated and impoverished, Afghanistan suffered further devastation from wars and the extreme rule of the Taliban. What kind of ruins and reconstruction did it face after the Taliban’s regime?
After the anti-terrorism war, the author went to Afghanistan as an international relief worker and spent unforgettable more than 200 days there. The author recorded everything they saw, heard, felt, and thought in Afghanistan, presenting us with a real Afghanistan—a ruined yet vibrant Kabul, a backward yet breathtakingly beautiful western countryside, a magnificent yet weathered Bamiyan Buddha, and traditional customs and family values that are astonishingly conservative.
