Sex Hormones and Gonadotropins 【Pharmacological Effects】 This product is extracted from the urine of early pregnant women and is a gonadotropin secreted by trophoblast cells of the placenta, which has luteinizing hormone (LH) activity but only a slight follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) -like effect. In females, it promotes follicular maturation and ovulation, and transforms the ruptured follicle into a corpus luteum, stimulating it to secrete progesterone. In males, it has interstitial cell-stimulating hormone (ICSH) activity, promoting the function of seminiferous tubules, especially the activity of Leydig cells, leading to the production of androgens, the development and maturation of sexual organs and secondary sexual characteristics, the descent of testes, and the promotion of sperm production. 【Indications】 Sexual dysfunction, infertility, threatened abortion or habitual abortion, functional uterine bleeding, amenorrhea, cryptorchidism, male hypogonadism, and oligospermia. 【Adverse Reactions】 Headache, fatigue, pain at the injection site, emotional changes, and allergic reactions. In females, it may cause ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, leading to symptoms such as abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, ovarian enlargement, cardiovascular shock, and multiple pregnancies. In males, it may cause precocious puberty, fluid retention, edema, breast tenderness, and gynecomastia. 【Contraindications】 Patients with inflammatory diseases of the reproductive system, hormone-active gonadocarcinoma, or those without gonads (congenital or postoperative) should avoid this medication. 【Dosage and Administration】 Intramuscular injection, 1 time 500~5000 units. ① Anovulatory infertility: Start on the 10th day of the menstrual period, inject 500~1000 units daily, for 5 consecutive days. ② Luteal phase deficiency: On the 15th or 17th day of the menstrual period (3 days after the rise in basal body temperature), inject 500~1000 units daily, for 5 consecutive days. ③ Functional uterine bleeding: Inject 300~1500 units daily, for 3~5 days. ④ Cryptorchidism: Under 10 years old, inject 500~1000 units per time; 10~14 years old, inject 1500 units per time, 2~3 times per week, for 4~8 weeks. ⑤ Male hypogonadism: Inject 4000 units per time, 3 times per week. ⑥ Threatened abortion or habitual abortion: Inject 3000~5000 units daily or every other day, for a total of 5~10 times. 【Precautions】 ① The solution of this product is extremely unstable and sensitive to heat; it should be used within 4 days after preparation. ② An allergic test should be performed before injection. ③ This product should not be used for long-term treatment to avoid the production of antibodies and the inhibition of pituitary gonadotropin function.
