To better popularize space knowledge and satisfy the curiosity of young people, our publishing house decided to publish a popular science book on manned spaceflight. For this purpose, several editors of our publishing house conducted a questionnaire survey in several primary and secondary schools. Among the nearly thousand questions collected, 100 representative and typical questions were selected. We invited Shen Liping, a former deputy chief designer of the Chinese Manned Space Program and former chief commander of the Astronaut System, along with Jiang Yuping, an expert long engaged in aerospace technology research, to answer them one by one, forming this illustrated book, "100 Space Secrets Told by Astronaut Experts of Shenzhou 6."
This book is divided into five parts: selecting and training astronauts, life in space, spaceflight, space equipment, and astronaut knowledge—all of which are highly concerned and desired to be understood by people in relation to manned spaceflight, especially those closely related to astronauts. For example, what qualifications are required to become an astronaut? What kind of study and training do astronauts typically undergo? What equipment is provided for astronauts by manned spacecraft? What is "spacewalk"? etc. It is believed that through the in-depth yet simple explanations of the experts and the rich illustrations in the book, readers will gain a basic understanding of the relevant knowledge of manned spaceflight. For some questions involving relatively deep technical content that are difficult to answer concisely, the book also provides many exquisite images for readers.
