How to calculate the ovulation period

Patient's question:

I will go to the hospital for an ultrasound examination when I am about to ovulate. Is it necessary?

Doctor's answer:

Hello. This is also acceptable, but if everything is normal, you can use an ovulation test kit for detection. Generally, women of normal fertility age release only one egg per month. After ovulation, the egg can survive for 1 to 2 days, while sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for 2 to 3 days. The fertilization capability is usually within 24 hours after ovulation, and sperm loses the ability to combine with the egg after 2 to 3 days. Therefore, having intercourse 2 to 3 days before and 1 to 2 days after ovulation increases the chances of conception, which is called the fertile period or the risky period. A woman's ovulation date is usually about 14 days before the next menstrual period.
