Is homosexuality considered normal?

Patient's question:

I am married, my husband loves me, but I really like my cousin and have been with her .... Is this normal?

Doctor's answer:

Feeling emotions and engaging in sexual behavior with the same sex is a manifestation of homosexuality.
Whether homosexuality is considered a mental disorder is a topic of differing opinions among scholars worldwide. The DSM-III no longer includes it because American scholars believe it is a normal phenomenon, with no significant difference between homosexuality and heterosexuality. However, many homosexual individuals do experience depression and anxiety, requiring clinical intervention.
If you feel no distress and are content with your feelings, there is no need for intervention. But if you are suffering due to this, psychological counseling may be necessary.
