Is a cyst something that needs to be treated?

Patient's question:

Does the cervix have cysts, and do they need to be surgically removed? I am over forty, can I leave it untreated?

Doctor's answer:

The main purpose of treating cervical diseases is to prevent cervical cancer and improve patients' subjective symptoms. The current common methods for preventing cervical cancer involve regular cervical examinations, including cervical liquid-based cytology (TCT), HPV virus testing of the cervix, colposcopy, and cervical tissue biopsy. Of course, as part of disease screening, TCT and HPV tests are primarily used. When both of these tests are negative, and the patient also shows no symptoms such as lower back or abdominal pain or increased vaginal discharge, treatment may not be necessary. If the patient discovers cervical cysts during the examination, along with HPV infection or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, appropriate treatment measures should be taken.
