Features: The annual highest award for outstanding news works in China, the 13th China News Award, was announced by the China News Association. A total of 248 news works were awarded, including 31 first prizes, 81 second prizes, and 136 third prizes. The winning works comprehensively reflect the fruitful achievements of Chinese journalists last year. 2003 was a year of great significance in the history of our Party and country. The majority of news workers upheld the great banner of Deng Xiaoping Theory and the Important Thought of "Three Represents," deeply studied, publicized, and implemented the spirit of the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. They centered on key tasks, served the overall situation, kept pace with the times, and broke new ground. They sang the main melody, took the initiative, and practiced the "Three Proximity" principle of news work, creating a positive public opinion environment to promote reform and development and maintain social stability.
