Patient's question:
How long does vaginitis take to heal? I have been treating vaginitis for a course of treatment, but why is it still itchy down there? Is there a problem with my constitution? Why does it stop itching after using it for three or four days?Doctor's answer:
Hello, it is recommended to rinse the external genitalia and vagina with an alkaline solution such as 2~4% sodium bicarbonate or soap water to alter the vaginal pH, making it less conducive to the growth of fungi. After rinsing, insert Nystatin tablets or suppositories into the vagina, with a dosage of 100,000~200,000 units each time, once daily, for a course of 10~14 days. Additionally, apply 3% miconazole cream to the external genitalia for better results. For persistent cases, oral ketoconazole or clotrimazole can be taken to eliminate intestinal candidiasis, or miconazole can be used externally. During treatment, sexual intercourse should be avoided, and underwear should be changed, washed, and boiled daily for disinfection. After one course of treatment, a negative fungal test result is required. Subsequent follow-up tests for fungi should also be negative after each menstrual cycle. Continuous consolidation treatment for three courses is necessary to consider the condition cured. It is best if the male partner also receives treatment. Shoes and socks should be washed separately from underwear. Condoms are recommended during sexual intercourse.
