This book is specifically designed and compiled for English learners from non-English-speaking countries. It is highly practical and targeted. The intended readers are English learners with beginner-level proficiency and secretarial professionals. During the compilation process, to maintain the original book's writing style, the overall content and format were largely preserved. However, to align with domestic readers' reading habits and learning characteristics, some content that did not fit China's context was appropriately added, deleted, or modified. Key content in the texts, headings, and exercise titles were translated, and new word annotations were added. The book is divided into 10 units, each including key points, dialogues, a vocabulary list, and exercises. The core of each unit consists of real-life situational dialogues and diverse exercises tailored to the dialogue content. Each unit is self-contained yet interconnected. The appendix contains two sections: First, letter examples closely tied to the content of the last unit, and second, abbreviations.
This book has two major features:
Feature 1: Close integration of language knowledge and professional content. The entire book is designed around secretarial work itself. Through detailed and specific content introductions, real-life situational dialogues, and varied exercises, readers not only gain a practical understanding of the basic qualities and requirements of secretarial work in all aspects but also learn appropriate English skills.
Feature 2: Each unit in the text is accompanied by abundant and diverse exercises, helping readers further master and reinforce previously learned knowledge while encouraging them to share their perspectives and viewpoints with others. Therefore, this book is suitable for classroom instruction organized by teachers as well as self-study use.
