Features: The (Pilot) Guide includes General Principles and six types of cancer: cervical cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, esophageal cancer, primary liver cancer, and nasopharyngeal cancer. The early diagnosis and treatment of these six cancers can be categorized into three scenarios:
① Screening and early diagnosis and treatment for cervical cancer have been globally recognized, as there are multiple strategies to meet the needs of different levels of healthcare resources. WHO recommends that all countries can implement it, and China has also identified it as a priority.
② Screening and early diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer have been well-established in developed countries, with WHO recommending its implementation in regions with sufficient healthcare resources. Screening and early diagnosis and treatment for colorectal cancer have also been actively implemented in some developed countries. Given the significant upward trend in the incidence of breast and colorectal cancer in urban areas of China and the increasing severity of their harm, it is recommended to conditionally carry out early diagnosis and treatment for breast and colorectal cancer in certain urban communities in China.
③ There are no internationally recognized screening and early diagnosis and treatment protocols for esophageal cancer, liver cancer, and nasopharyngeal cancer. China's oncology prevention and treatment workers have conducted extensive work in this area and achieved remarkable results. The screening and early diagnosis and treatment protocols for esophageal cancer, liver cancer, and nasopharyngeal cancer summarized here can be piloted in high-incidence rural areas.
Regions that implement cancer screening and early diagnosis and treatment can establish demonstration sites, refine technical protocols, and explore effective operational mechanisms to facilitate the promotion of the (Pilot) Guide.
