With the tremendous development of China's socialist cultural undertakings in recent years, variously composed marching bands (wind bands) have emerged in large numbers across the country. Not only have many military units, groups, factories, and rural areas established marching bands, but many primary, secondary, and universities have also formed sizable bands. According to relevant statistics, there are approximately 5,000 professional and amateur marching bands nationwide, and new bands continue to emerge—what a heartening phenomenon! To better assist friends who wish to compose or arrange marching band music in quickly mastering instrumentation techniques, we have extensively collected materials from both Chinese and international marching band masterpieces and summarized the creative experiences of past and present composers, resulting in this book, Practical Marching Band Instrumentation. It specifically introduces the composition of conventional marching bands, light music, and large marching bands, as well as the instrumentation methods for various marches, light music, and large marching band pieces. The book is rich in content, easy to understand, and features accurate musical examples, making it highly instructive for both professional and amateur musicians.
