Patient's question:
What is a galactoma? I've never heard of this disease before, but I was recently diagnosed with it. I don't know what's going on. Can anyone tell me?Doctor's answer:
Galactoceles, also known as milk retention cysts or milk stasis syndrome, were once believed to be relatively rare. However, in recent years, there have been frequent reports of this condition domestically. It occurs when a small lobe or duct in the breast during lactation becomes obstructed again for some reason, causing milk to flow out poorly and accumulate within the duct, leading to its expansion and formation into a cyst. The condition manifests as a lump in the breast, often mistaken for a benign breast tumor (fibroadenoma), and occasionally misdiagnosed as breast cancer. Therefore, it should attract attention.
