With the development of the times, the content and form of sketching and color studies are also continuously evolving. They not only train students' observation skills, shaping abilities, and expressive abilities but also serve as one of the means to cultivate their individuality and creativity. For those dedicated to pursuing careers in the field of design within plastic arts, the importance of establishing a solid foundation in sketching and color studies for long-term development in the artistic path is self-evident. This is also a fundamental professional quality required for admission to art and design institutions. While focusing on training students' basic shaping abilities, our department also emphasizes the cultivation of individuality and creativity, which is the goal of our sketching and color studies teaching.
The Stage Design Department of Shanghai Theatre Academy offers majors in Stage and Film/Television Art Design and Art and Design. With a history of 55 years, the Stage Design Department has laid a solid foundation and academic reputation over more than half a century. It has nurtured a large number of stage designers, artists, and art and design professionals who are active across the country and in Europe and America, gaining acclaim in stage design, lighting design, costume and makeup, painting, installation art, and art and design. Unlike other art colleges, the teaching of the Stage Design Department benefits greatly from the comprehensive artistic environment of the theatre academy. Surrounded by disciplines such as literature, performance, directing, and television, students are able to absorb a broader and more comprehensive artistic nourishment, forming multidirectional development opportunities.
With the economic and cultural development of our society, the demand for arts and culture has become increasingly important to people. Therefore, various art and design majors undoubtedly have a broad future. We hope that more outstanding talents can fully develop in this field.
