Features: Zhao Yongchun (1953–) is a native of Yushu City, Jilin Province. He is the Director of the History Department and a Professor at Siping Normal University. He has long been engaged in the study and research of the history of the Liao, Jin, and Yuan dynasties, as well as the history of the Jin-Song relationship. He has independently completed works such as Research on the History of Jin-Song Relations, Journey Records of Jin and Song Envoys to the Liao, Discussions on the History of the Liao, Song, Jin, and Yuan Dynasties, Kublai Khan, The Rise and Fall of Dynasties—The Earthly Court, and Famous Works of Chinese Daoist Culture. This book is a research project of the Jilin University Philosophy and Social Sciences Excellent Research Program.
After graduating from university, the author began teaching the history of the Liao, Song, Western Xia, Jin, and Yuan dynasties, establishing the study of the Liao, Jin, and Yuan dynasties as his research direction. Gradually, he shifted his focus to the study of Jin-Song relations, publishing several papers on the subject. In 1995, his project Research on the Records of Song Envoys to the Liao and Jin Dynasties received direct funding from the National Committee for the Preservation of Ancient Books in Higher Education. In addition to completing the book Journey Records of Jin and Song Envoys to the Liao, he also wrote several more papers on Jin-Song relations.
This book traces the rise and fall of the Jin dynasty as a framework, systematically discussing the Jin dynasty's policies toward the Song dynasty and extensively exploring the historical facts of the Jin-Song wars and peace treaties. At the same time, it expresses the author's views on several controversial issues. It is a thoroughly researched and well-documented history of Jin-Song relations.
