Most of the reminiscence articles in these two books were previously published in the collection "Reminiscences of Marx and Engels" by the People's Publishing House in 1983 and have been rearranged for this edition. "Reminiscences of Marx" includes four newly added articles: Engels' two articles "Karl Marx" and "Speech at Marx's Grave," Stefan Born's "Winter in Brussels: Karl Marx," and Julius Walter's "Karl Marx." "Reminiscences of Engels" includes four newly added articles: Marx's preface to the French edition of Engels' pamphlet "Socialism: From Utopia to Science," II. Iesen's "Recollection of Meeting Engels," B. P. Akserirov's "Fragments of Memoirs," and P. D. Boborykin's "Fragments of Memoirs." Among the eight newly added articles, three by Marx and Engels are selected from the second Chinese edition of "Marx-Engels Collected Works," while the others are newly translated from foreign publications. Additionally, the self-revelations of Marx and Engels are included. For the convenience of readers, both books retain the name index of the original collection, the genealogy of Marx with explanations, and the genealogy of Engels with explanations from the original collection, while also adding annotations.
