How is trichomoniasis treated effectively?

Patient's question:

Partner (female) has been diagnosed with trichomoniasis. What tests should I do? Is it contagious? I don't have any symptoms, how is it treated? What kind of help do you need: what tests?

Doctor's answer:

Trichomoniasis is caused by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalis. Clinical diagnosis is primarily characterized by increased vaginal discharge, frothy and foul-smelling, and vaginal itching. It spreads through sexual contact, public baths, bathtubs, hot tubs, swimming pools, toilets, clothing, instruments, and sterile gauze. During treatment, sexual activity is strictly prohibited. Women diagnosed with trichomoniasis must be advised to treat both partners simultaneously. No further examination is necessary.
