Features: Wireless mobile networks are the cornerstone of mobile computing (Mobile Computing). In wireless mobile networks, the continuous change in the physical location of network nodes—known as node mobility—poses challenges to various aspects of the network, including security, reliability, resource reuse, QoS, routing, interfaces, congestion control, channel allocation, and more. Mobility management is one of the most important and challenging issues in mobile computing. Designing reasonable, efficient, and optimized mobility management strategies for wireless mobile networks, along with developing effective algorithms and rigorous theoretical proofs, is highly significant for both theoretical research and practical applications. This book studies mobility management strategies in wireless mobile networks. It applies vector Markov processes and density evolution methods for mathematical modeling, deriving formulas such as the number of intercell handoffs within two call arrival intervals, the length of the pointer chain in the "threshold-pointer advancement mobility management strategy" during the interval between the last location update and the next call arrival, the mobile distance of the mobile station in the "distance-based location management strategy," the number of location area layers in the "circular search strategy," and the distance formula in the "distance-based location management strategy." These formulas hold significant importance for the design and evaluation of various mobility management strategies. Additionally, the book applies theoretical and methodological approaches such as fuzzy control and computer simulation to study adaptive and self-regulating mobility management strategies. The research results of this book hold important practical value for improving existing mobile communication systems, designing and efficiently operating next-generation mobile communication systems, information network construction, information network security, mobile software (e.g., mobile agents), mobile commerce (Mobile Commerce), public safety, disaster relief, energy conservation, and environmental protection. This book is suitable for graduate students, teachers, and researchers in fields such as communication, computer applications, and systems engineering.
